Spring in a town without seasons.....

How does El Paso know when Spring has sprung (aside from me repeatedly playing the Printemps movement from Vivaldi's Four Seasons)?  Well in Northest El Paso we have the distinct honor of having tons of the only wild poppies (and there is always the obligatory mention of them not being THE opium poppy by the local media) in town.  Anyway, I celebrate the NE El Paso poppy today as the poppy celebration is officially today.

They grow right out of the rocks in any vacant lot available.  They run from bright lemon yellow to wonderful ombre orange.  They are just so damn cheerful.  Of course, I have photos!

Some people encourage the growth in their side yards (above) that are zeriscaped.  Takes away the drabness of the rocks don't you think?
Anyway, just wanted to share the springing of spring in a town with no real seasons, unless you consider sweltering and bearable seasons.  Still love my town though!

Peace and love to all.

Heaven on a plate

Wanted to share a wonderful dinner I had Thursday night.  It was truly heaven on plate.  It was a green enchilada torte.  Layers of corn tortillas, asadero cheese, green chile sauce and amazing chicken. Refried beans on the side, yumm and eee. La Victoria's is near my chiro's office on Dyer in El Paso (near Maxwell and right by Bowlero Lanes) in case you are ever in town.  Not only is the food amazing, the service is superb, attentive without being overbearing.

This was on my camera phone!

Today, we have had a nice rain on and off.  The pups have been inside for the most part.  Rudy, my oldest, paces now when the rain comes.  I got a nap in.  This is the life.

I worked more on my Etsy store, put some new things in.  I signed up for some web analytics thing that looks intriguing.  Thinking of joining PCAGOE as a way to be more involved.  We'll see.

Have to go get some transcripts tomorrow in order to put through this application I'm submitting.  I dread dealing with UTEP, but I have to go to the eye doctor nearby and there is great lunch place, so it won't be so bad.  In the meantime, sunset, THOUGH DELAYED-UGH, is on its way.

A recent sunset on the way home......ahhhhhhh!

Peace and love, bloggers!

Irish anyone

I've been thinking about Ireland today, prolly all the talk of St. Patty's day, but I didn't want to work with green and my mind wandered to Irish burial mounds, cairns I believe they are called.  I started making spacer beads in one color in various sizes and stacking them into cairn shapes.  I'm so happy with the potential.  I haven't baked the beads yet (tomorrow). I will definitely have an after photo.

I'm headed into spring break and am, so far, loving every minute of it.  I do have jury duty on March 17, so wish me luck for a short trial or none at all.  I'll post more over the week.  My goal is to get some items up at Etsy and maybe a little redesign of the shop.  I also have a major closet cleaning to do, cannot be put off any longer, egads.

Here is the cairn necklace, in progress.  Enjoy!

Peace and love everyone!!

Should I or shouldn't I?

As I do frequently, I was perusing another school district's website and low and behold there is an opening for which I'm qualified that would be a promotion.  I'm thinking about applying but for some reason have reservations.

My question is why I am hesitating?  I have solid experience, meet all the qualifications and actually have been thinking that working for another district before retirement would be a good opportunity.  What is that little voice that paralyzes me or....us?

My other question...is this hesitation peculiar to women?  Do men hesitate or jump in more readily?  Well, I have decided to pursue the position.  What is the worst that could happen, not being hired, Thank God I have a job that would not be endangered by this process.  There are two other positions in other districts that I am also going to pursue.  I have to right???

Also, like Mary Ann Moss at Dispath from LA  http://dispatchfromla.typepad.com/dispatch_from_la/
I DON'T WANT WINTER TO END.  I DON'T WANT DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME.  I DON'T WANT SUMMER HEAT AND I DON'T WANT TO SWEAT!!  I'm better now....

Here is some eye candy to help you ease into your week.....Peace and love.

I made this mirror around Christmas as a secret Santa gift.  It was well received.  I enclosed a 3" round mirror tile (Hobby Lobby) with black clay, stamped and patinated with gold acrylic paint.  These are soooo quick and easy.

Just popped in to say hi

I hope everyone is doing well.  I just finished the first day of state testing for our homebound students.  EEK and yikes.  No major catastrophes or blood on the wall...so all in all a successful day.  Round 2 on Friday and then the weekend.   AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

I don't have any new bead candy to show, but here is a nice shot of all the furbabies to soothe the demons (mine if noone else's).  Daisy to your left (4), Rudy center (13) and Tess (11) on your right. (no, Tess and Rudy are not related.) They all say Ruff!
